Terms of Use
These beta terms are a working pre-release draft and should be professionally reviewed before a broad public or paid launch.
1. What Comrade is
Comrade is an independent movie-companion application that helps users organize, search, analyse, and select films connected to services they are authorised to use. Comrade does not host, upload, sell, provide, or stream films.
2. Plex and third-party services
Playback and media access remain with Plex and the user’s authorised Plex server. Comrade is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Plex. Third-party services may change, become unavailable, or impose their own terms. Comrade is an independent companion application for Plex. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Plex. Comrade does not provide movies, TV shows, or streaming services
3. User responsibilities
You must use only accounts, servers, libraries, and media that you are authorised to access. You may not attempt to bypass security, access another user’s data, disrupt the service, or use Comrade for unlawful activity.
4. Beta service
Comrade is under active development. Features may change, data may need to be resynchronised, and temporary interruptions may occur. No guarantee is made that every feature will remain available or work with every Plex configuration.
5. Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for notifying the administrator if you suspect unauthorised access. Accounts may be suspended for abuse, security risks, or violations of these terms.
6. Supporter subscriptions and contributions
A monthly Comrade supporter subscription is a recurring paid service and renews through Stripe until cancelled. The checkout page shows the applicable price, currency, and any configured taxes before payment. Subscription access is linked to the signed-in Comrade account and normally continues through the paid billing period. Failed payments, refunds, chargebacks, account mismatches, or the end of a subscription may suspend or end supporter access. Billing details and cancellation are managed through Stripe’s hosted portal.
A one-time contribution does not create recurring billing and does not automatically grant subscription access. Ko-fi may be offered as an optional alternative, but its payment and cancellation handling differs from Stripe and may require administrator review. Any mandatory consumer rights and legally required refund rights remain unaffected.
7. Availability and liability
Comrade is provided on an “as available” basis during beta. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or liability that cannot legally be excluded. To the extent permitted by law, the operator is not responsible for indirect losses caused by third-party outages, user-controlled Plex servers, or unsupported configurations.
8. Changes
Material changes will be versioned. Users may be asked to accept updated terms before continuing to use future versions.
